the machine. the myth. the 0men.

manufacturer: a now-defunct victim of the 2008 crash, Omni-Tech.

year: 1999?

initial th0ughts: turning this on is going to initiate a timer that will usher in the end of the world. i'm pretty sure of it.

the price: $2.

i'm not a stranger to old things, and just because something is old does not mean it's haunted. however, harbinger has...an energy to it. it might be difficult to potray through the screen, but just looking at makes my stomach drop a little. there is something wrong with it, besides the usual old computer stuff.

the only thing i know for certain is that it powers on, but until i get it hooked up to a monitor (left my VGA at home) i won't know much about it, save a sticker on the outside claims it runs Windows 2000.

right: the last thing you see before you die.

surplus c0mputers d0n't have hard drives...right?

it's standard for computers at my favorite surplus sale to not have hard drives. however, i'm having trouble getting harby open to check. i think the lock on the back of the case has something to do with it. my roommate, after watching me wrestle with it for thirty minutes, found a video showing how to open a similar case, but harby's does not just slide off like that. i'm pretty sure i need to pick the lock.

if harby does not have a hard drive, i'll assume it contained curses and spirits and gladly replace it with one of the ones Mike gave me.

currently...

8/19/23: i moved into my new apartment, but encountered a lot of difficulties in doing so. makes me wonder if harbinger is responsible.
